Full Field of 32 Compete in Partners Eight Ball Tournament

Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) want to thank our generous sponsors Expert Automotive and Sunny Side Up Cafe .   On December 14, 2019 the PPB hosted a Partners 8-Ball Tournament.  We started the day with a moment of silence for Cathy Donat, a prior member of the PPB who recently passed away.   Ron Ridge successfully tested an electronic version of the tournament brackets for the first time for the PPB, see it here https://challonge.com/oz7kh7av . The following field of 32 players gathered to play competitive partner 8-Ball.   After a Skill Rating controlled draw where the top 16 Skill Rated players from the PPB would draw a partner from the balance of the field, the 16 Partners were Steve Searl/Lou Doganieri, Jay “The Shamrock Shooter” Clary/Jan “Banker” Stebbins, Lloyd Schmidt/Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Gary “One Rail” Barlow/Dick “The Stick” Schroeder, Julie “Cutter” Ferguson/Phelps “Frenchfry” L’Hommedieu, Tom “Blind Squirrel ” Barrett/Dick Steinsvaag, Dan “Oh No!” Stebbi

Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) vs Green Valley Recreation (GVR) 10/26/2019

   First we would like to thank Green Valley Recreation’s Billiard Club and Ken Watson for their pool table skills and camaraderie, friendly competition and a nice luncheon at the RoadRunner Grill after the 8-Ball Challenge.  Another big THANK YOU goes out to Dominic Borland PPB Travel Team Captain and Gary Barlow PPB Travel Team Co-Captain for organizing this event and making sure it was a success, and they did just that.   On Saturday October 26, 2019 the GVR Pool Team traveled up to SaddleBrooke for an 8-Ball Team Challenge.  We were competing on four 8 foot Connelly pool tables for temporary ownership of a traveling bronze plaque that has been in GVR’s possession since December 10, 2016.  Our players made up 4 teams of 2 players each from SaddleBrooke and Green Valley also had 4, 2 man teams.    Our teams consisted of Ron “Dblo7” Ridge and Fred “The Baker” Dianda, Gary “One Rail” Barlow and Tom “Blind Squirrel” Barrett, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Jim “Shooter” Fabio, and

   Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) want to thank our generous sponsors Mike’s Catalina Barber Shop & Steve Searl .   On Saturday September 28, 2019 the PPB Billiards Club hosted an 8-Ball Singles Tournament in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room.   The format was single game, double elimination. What a wonderful place we have to hold these events and now we have added a 4th pool table so more players may participate.    Tournament Directors were Dominic Borland and Joe Giammarino.  Ron “Dblo7” Ridge was manning the tournament bracket again and did a fine job, thanks Ron.   Randy Smith did a fine job of collecting the entry fees and filling in on the brackets when necessary with Dominic Borland.   The following field of 21 players gathered to play competitive 8-Ball.   Dan “Oh No!” Stebbins, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland, Jack Hepner, Gary “One Rail” Barlow, Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Phelps “Frenchfry” L'Hommedieu, Steve Searl, Jim “Shooter” Fabio,
