Victory! Randy “Thin Man” Smith and Terry Sterling

   Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB)want to thank our generous sponsor Leah Kari - Secure Senior Health Solutions .   On February 23, 2019 the PPB hosted a Partners 8-Ball Tournament. PPB Billiards Club versus SCOV Billiards Club

   First we would like to thank Sun City Oro Valley Billiards Club (SCOV), Jim Lilja Activity Director, and Tom Caswell President of SCOV  Billiards Club for the friendly competition and camaraderie.  Another big THANK YOU goes out to Dominic Borland and Gary Barlow, Captains of the Pool Players of the Brooke (PPB) Travel Team for organizing this event and making sure it was a success, and they did just that.  On Monday February 4, 2019 at 10 AM the PPB hosted the SCOV Billiards Club at the beautiful Catalina Recreation Center’s Billiard Room (CRC) for an 8-Ball Team Challenge.  We were competing on three 8 foot Connelly pool tables for temporary ownership of a Traveling Plaque.  Our 3 teams consisted of Dan “Oh No!” Stebbins and Randy “Thin Man” Smith, Ron “Dblo7” Ridge and Jim “Rocketman” Donat, Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino and Tom “ Blind Squirrel” Barrett.   Our opponent’s teams consisted of these 3 partner teams, Mike Connoy & Michael Rutman, Tom Caswell and Sean Parks, Ton

35th Senior Olympic Festival 8-Ball Singles at Pockets Pool & Pub

   On January 29, 2019 four members of the Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Billiard Club traveled down to Pockets Pool & Pub in Tucson to compete in the 35 th Senior Olympics in the sport of 8-Ball Singles.   This event is for 50 and older residents of Arizona who enjoy competing in this game.   This competition is broken down by age in 5 year increments and was played on nine 9-Foot tables.   We got there about 11:15 AM, the tourney started around 1:30 PM and ended close to 5:00 PM.   The tourney ran smoothly after they had some difficulties and delays getting it started.    Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino competed in the Men’s 65 – 69 Bracket with 21 other competitors.   Both of them won their bracket to advance to the Medal Round.   Dominic “The Doctor” Borland placed 2 nd and won the Silver Medal.   Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino took home the Bronze Medal and 3 rd Place.   We also ran into a couple other Billiard Clubs from different Reti
