HOA1 Appreciated by the Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB)

On Thursday November 16, 2023 the PPB showed their appreciation for HOA1’s Board of Directors and the Health and Recreation Committee (HRC). The PPB’s President Dick Dunbar, the PPB’s first lady Kathleen Dunbar and Dominic Borland organized and executed an Appreciation Event to recognize the Boards’ commitment to make the Catalina Recreation Center’s billiard room the best in the area. The upgraded billiard room was admired by the more than 60 residents attending. The billiard room was cleaned and staged by Phelps L'Hommedieu and Joe Giammarino and from the comments received was very inviting to our guests. The PPB offered pizza, quesadillas, wine, beer, and soft drinks for those in attendance. The PPB’s very own Fred Dianda as always prepared a dessert that was out of this world and was gone as fast as a cue ball on a break shot! Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) vs Sun City Oro Valley (SCOV)

The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Billiards Club (PPB) would like to thank Sun City Oro Valley’s Billiard Club (SCOV), Ken Schriner and SCOV’s billiard team for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, and friendly competition. Another big THANK YOU goes out to Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, PPB’s Travel Team Captain for organizing this event. On Saturday November 11, 2023 the PPB’s Travel Team ventured down to SCOV’s Catalina Vista Center for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. We were competing on two 9 foot Diamond Pro-Am pool tables and two 9 foot Brunswick Gold Crowns. This travel match was for the Traveling Bronze Plaque currently in the PPB’s possession since November 20, 2021. Our team was made up of 4, 2 player teams and SCOV also had 4, 2 player teams. The PPB teams consisted of Tony “The Snake” Cardillo and Lowell “8-Ball” Hegg, Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino and Randy “Thin Man” Smith, Fred “The Baker” Dianda, and Chris Schmidt, Phelps L’Hommidieu and Ron “Dblo7” Ridge.

SaddleBrooke One Elevates the CRC Billiard Room

In the first picture Dominic Borland and Joe Giammarino get ready to play one last game as they say goodbye to the last 2 Connelly pool tables. These tables served their time functionally and now they move on to a new home. As of October 11, 2023 we were without pool tables available to the residents in SaddleBrooke for about 11 days. All SaddleBrooke Billiard Enthusiasts are still in awe of HOA1’s commitment in leading the effort to upgrade our Billiard Room and make it the premier billiard room in the area. In anticipation of 4 brand new beautiful 9-Foot Diamond Pro-Am Commercial Pool Tables being installed on October 20, 2023. The billiard rooms’ paint was freshened up by the Pool Players of The Brookes’ Billiard Club (PPB) members. The carpets were cleaned and all 4 pool tables were installed on time. The Pool Players of The Brookes’ Billiard Club (PPB) hosted an 8-Ball Singles Tournament on Saturday November 4, 2023 in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room. This is our first tournament on our brand new beautiful 9-Foot Diamond Pro-Am pool tables. Thank you HOA1 and the Pool Gods! The format was double elimination. Tournament Director was Joe Giammarino. The Pool Players of The Brookes’ Billiard Club (PPB) wants to thank our Travel Team Director Tony Cardillo for putting this competition together. On Saturday September 9, 2023 the PPB Billiards Club hosted an 8-Ball Singles Round Robin Tournament in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room. The PPB was tentatively scheduled to play SaddleBrooke Ranch’s Billiard Club but they could not coral enough members to make the date. So Tony decided to hold a Round Robin 8-Ball Tournament instead. The format was each participant would play every other participant one game of 8-Ball. We had 10 participants so everyone would play 9 games of 8-Ball. The following field of 10 players showed up to compete in the game of 8-Ball. The PPB would like to thank SaddleBrooke Ranch Billiards Club (SBR), Jim Kauffman, and SBR’s billiards team for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, friendly competition and a congenial luncheon at the Agave Lounge after the 8-Ball Challenge.
