Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Ladies vs Green Valley Recreation (GVR) Ladies

The PPB would like to thank the ladies from Green Valley Recreation’s Billiard Club for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, friendly competition and a nice luncheon after the match at HOA1’s newly renovated RoadRunner Grill. Another thank you goes out to Tony Cardillo PPB Travel Team Director for organizing this first ever PPB’s ladies Travel Team competition. On Wednesday April 10, 2024 the GVR’s Ladies Travel Team ventured up to SaddleBrooke for an 8-Ball Team Challenge against the PPB ladies. They were competing for bragging rights. Our team was made up of 4 players and Green Valley also had 4 players. Our team consisted of Julie “Cutter” Ferguson, Diane Cleary, Romayne Trudo, and Venita Ransom. GVR’s team was made up of Marianne Bishop, Dot Byrer, Nancy Packman, and Gretchen Sziebert. The format was simple and interesting. The Pool Players of The Brookes’ Billiard Club (PPB) hosted a 9-Ball singles pool tournament on Saturday March 30, 2024 in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room. The format was double elimination 9-Ball Singles Tournament. Thank you Rancheros Market for sponsoring this tournament to the tune of a special Gift Certificate for the first four finishers. 1st Place: 1 Cowboy Steak, 1 pack of tortillas, and 2 breakfast meals of your choice. 2nd Place: 2 breakfast meals of your choice. 3rd Place: 1 LB of Shrimp Ceviche and 1 pack of chips. 4th Place: 1 pack of chips and a salsa of your choice. Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) vs Mission Royale (MRBC)

The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Billiard Club (PPB) would like to thank Mission Royale’s Billiard Club (MRBC) and their President Brian Kjensmo for their pool table prowess, camaraderie and friendly competition. Another thank you goes out to Tony Cardillo PPB Travel Team Director for organizing this event. On Saturday March 09, 2024 the PPB Travel Team ventured up to the MRBC in Casa Grande for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. We were competing for temporary ownership of a traveling bronze plaque that has been in PPB’s possession since March 11, 2023. Our team was made up of 4, 2 player teams and MRBC also had 4, 2 player teams. Pool Players of The Brooke Member Appreciation Happy Hour

The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Board (PPB) orchestrated a Member Appreciation Happy Hour to honor their outstanding members and sponsors in the HOA!’s newly renovated RoadRunner Grill. The PPB hosted 57 members and two PPB Sponsors. PPB’s President Dick “Highlander” Dunbar started the program with a few upbeat words to the attending PPB members. Then Board Vice President Dominic “The Doctor” Borland recognized a couple sponsors. Joe Pate’s XPERT Auto has been sponsoring the PPB since its inception in February 2016. Shelly Smith representing XPERT Auto accepted a Certificate of Recognition from the PPB. Our next exceptional sponsor in attendance was Leah Kari of Leah Kari Solutions Inc. Leah has been with us since February 2018. Leah graciously accepted her framed certificate and indicated her support would continue and grow. Senior Olympic Gold for Phelps L’Hommedieu

Tucson Parks and Recreation and Pain Institute of Southern Arizona presents the 39th annual Senior Olympic Festival. This festival is a celebration to promote fitness, health, and an active lifestyle among adults 50 years of age and older. Events include volleyball, billiards, bowling, bridge, racquetball, basketball shoot, pickleball, archery, golf, tennis, horseshoes, badminton, and so much more. On Wednesday January 23, 2024 the 8-Ball competition took place at Pockets Billiards in Tucson. The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) had 4 participants competing. Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar, Dick “The Visor” Titus and Phelps “Montana” L’Hommedieu. Phelps who was placed in the 80 to 84 years old bracket with 15 other competitors was ready to play!
