The Pool Players of The Brookes’ Billiard Club (PPB) hosted an 8-Ball Singles tournament on Friday June 20, 2025 and Saturday June 21, 2025 in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room sponsored by Debra Miller and State Farm. Debra Miller is the PPB’s latest Tournament sponsor and we gratefully thank Debra for her support and confidence in the PPB! Thank you for sponsoring this PPB 8-Ball tournament. The format of this 8-Ball Singles Tournament on Friday June 20th was race to two, double elimination, down to the final four participants. On Saturday June 21st the final four competed in the semifinals which were a race to four; and the finals which were a race to five. Third and fourth place was determined by a race to two. Pool Players of The Brooke’s 2025 8-Ball Club Champion! Tony “The Snake” Cardillo

The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) has been in existence as an HOA1 sanctioned club since January 2016 and it has not had an 8-Ball Club Champion until now. In early 2024 the PPB’s Vice President Phelps “Montana” L’Hommedieu headed up a small committee to develop the process for accomplishing this objective. The PPB would hold five 8-Ball qualifying tournaments on the following Saturdays: Oct 25, 2024, Nov 16, 2024, Jan 25, 2025, Feb 28, 2025, and Mar 29, 2025. The PPB would apply a point system during these tournaments where the PPB members earned points for participation, wins, and position achieved. Once all the five qualifying tournaments were completed, the eight participants with the highest point totals competed in a two day tournament to decide the first PPB 8-Ball Club Champion. Pool Players of The Brooke’s Second Ladder Competition

The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) held their second Ladder Competition with 20 PPB Members participating. Tony “The Snake” Cardillo implemented and administered the PPB Ladder competition. The main reason for this competition was to increase head to head competition within the PPB Billiard Club. Each challenge on the Ladder was a race to four 8-ball match. There were two divisions within the Ladder competition, Minnesota Fats division and the Willie Mosconi division. The Ladder started on 09/18/2024 and ran until 04/18/2025 with the divisional playoffs on Tuesday 04/22/2025. Pool Players of The Brooke’s 2025 Membership Appreciation Happy Hour

The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Billiard Club (PPB) held their annual Membership Appreciation Happy Hour event on April 1, 2025 in the Mountain View ballroom from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. PPB Founder Dominic “The Doctor” Borland was the Membership Appreciation Event Committee Chairman and also Master of Ceremonies. As the PPB Members entered they were presented with a PPB engraved commemorative ball point pen. Over one hundred members and spouses attended. Dominic “The Doctor” Borland started the event by issuing a heartfelt welcome to our members and their spouses. He also introduced attending sponsors Leah Kari of Leah Kari Solutions and Dorothy Moore, Lauren Moore, and Jim Bilwacks of The Moore Advantage Group. Shannon Morgenstern representing the Arizona Pain Care Center appeared later in the event. Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) vs Green Valley Recreation (GVR)

The PPB would like to thank Green Valley Recreation’s Billiard Club and Tom Keller, GVR’s Travel Team Coordinator for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, friendly competition and a nice luncheon after the match at the Coyote Grill. Another thank you goes out to Tony Cardillo PPB Travel Team Director for organizing this event. On Saturday February 8, 2025 the PPB’s Travel Team ventured down to GVR for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. The competition was being held in the GVR’s old golf cart garage converted into GVR’s new pool room which has 10 9 foot Diamond ProAm pool tables. The PPB and GVR have a long history going back to our first match on October 13, 2016 when the GVR taught us a big lesson! In fact the first 4 times we met GVR in competition they kept teaching us. The PPB did eventually learn their lesson as they have defeated GVR the last 4 times they’ve competed.
