“The Sharkettes” and “Pool Players of The Brooke”

L to R. First Place Jim “The Artist” Morris and Janette “The Archer” Borland, Second Place Tom “Half Jacket” Barrett and Christine TuttiFluti” Smith

We want to thank our generous sponsor Sunny Side Up Café

On Saturday April 29, 2017 The Sharkettes hosted a Mixed Scotch Doubles 8-Ball Social at the SaddleBrooke Billiard Center. Mixed Scotch Doubles is a Male/Female partner event with the partners alternating shots. Tournament Directors were Dominic Borland and Joe Giammarino. The following impressive field of 12 players gathered to play. The Sharkettes collectively decided that when we draw for partners we would ensure that no spouses would be partners. The men were told they had no say in this. After a controlled draw for partners here is how the partners paired up: Nancy Barrett and Dan “Oh No!” Stebbins, Jan “Banker” Stebbins and Randy “Thin Man” Smith, Christine “TuttiFluti” Smith and Tom “Half Jacket” Barrett, Darlene “Breaker Breaker” Morris and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Rita “I’m Back” Giammarino and Dominic “The Doctor” Borland, Janette “The Archer” Borland and Jim “The Artist” Morris.

Results:

1st Janette “The Archer” Borland and Jim “The Artist” Morris – Went undefeated. 1 Bye 3 Wins 0 Losses.
2nd Christine “TuttiFluti” Smith and Tom “Half Jacket” Barrett – Close, but no cigar! 3 Wins 2 Losses.

Recap:

Janette “The Archer” Borland and Jim “The Artist” Morris’s road to success started out with a first round bye. Their next match was against Darlene “Breaker Breaker” Morris and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Janette and Jim disposed of Darlene and Joe quickly to move on to the next round. Up next for Janette and Jim was Christine “TuttiFluti” Smith and Tom “Half Jacket” Barrett, Christine and Tom had their chance to win this match but fell just short and off to the loser’s bracket they went! This put Janette and Jim on the hill waiting for someone to come through the loser’s bracket to challenge them for the title. Christine and Tom did just that and would have to beat Janette and Jim twice to become the champs. Not on this Saturday, again Christine and Tom had their chance to defeat Janette and Jim but it was not in the cards. Janette “The Archer” Borland and Jim “The Artist” Morris outlasted Christine and Tom with Janette sinking the winning 8-Ball to take the top honors on this Saturday. Congratulations to our champions Janette “The Archer” Borland and Jim “The Artist” Morris. Finally, a Borland visits the winners circle!
Thanks to our hosts The Sharkettes, HOA1, all the participants, and our sponsor Sunny Side Up Cafe. We would also like to thank Randy Smith for delivering the pizzas on time and hot, Jan Stebbins for the veggie tray, and Joe Giammarino for the salad.
A fun day was over after 3 hours and many games of 8-ball, 4 pizzas, veggies, and salad. The 12 participants had lunch, socialized and met with friends that shared their passion. THAT is a good day! RACK’EM UP!
