HOA1 Appreciated by the Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB)

On Thursday November 16, 2023 the PPB showed their appreciation for HOA1’s Board of Directors and the Health and Recreation Committee (HRC). The PPB’s President Dick Dunbar, the PPB’s first lady Kathleen Dunbar and Dominic Borland organized and executed an Appreciation Event to recognize the Boards’ commitment to make the Catalina Recreation Center’s billiard room the best in the area. The upgraded billiard room was admired by the more than 60 residents attending. The billiard room was cleaned and staged by Phelps L'Hommedieu and Joe Giammarino and from the comments received was very inviting to our guests. The PPB offered pizza, quesadillas, wine, beer, and soft drinks for those in attendance. The PPB’s very own Fred Dianda as always prepared a dessert that was out of this world and was gone as fast as a cue ball on a break shot! Numerous members of the HOA1’s Board and HRC along with HOA1’s General Manager Vivian Timian attended in addition to the three potential Board members currently running for the HOA1 Board. The HOA unanimously provided for the four new Diamond Pro-Am pool tables along with new balls, and 8 black fiberglass cue sticks. The PPB added to furnishings in the billiard room with custom pool table covers, matching stools, new cue sticks and racks, hanging chalk holders, bridges, and custom coasters with the PPB logo for your beverages. The PPB is also working on pool table cover caddies for the four pool tables. Pool Players of The Brooke’s Travel Team – Perfection!

     The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Travel Team started by Dominic “The Doctor” Borland one of the PPB’s Founders, previous Vice President (twice), and the only Travel Team Director the PPB has had.   The PPB Travel Team began competitions on October 29, 2016 at Mission Royale in Casa Grande Arizona where the PPB defeated Mission Royale 30 to 18.   This was the start to a 6 year long run of competitions headed up by Dominic Borland.   In the past 6 years the PPB Travel Team competed 20 times against the following communities:   Green Valley Recreation, Sun City Vistoso, Quail Creek, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Sun Lakes in Maricopa County, Mission Royale, and Sunflower in Marana.      Our Travel Team is made up of any PPB member who wants to compete against other communities. Pool Players of The Brooke vs Quail Creek Billiards Club 1/11/2020

   The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) would like to thank Quail Creek (QC) Billiards Club, Travel Team Director Dennis Desmond, President of the Quail Creek’s Billiards Club’s Chuck Asteleford and their members for the friendly competition and camaraderie.   Another big THANK YOU goes out to Dominic Borland and Gary Barlow, Captains of the Pool Players of the Brooke Travel Team for organizing this event and making sure it was a success, and they did a great job.   On Saturday January 11, 2020 at 9:00 AM the PPB hosted the Quail Creek Billiards Club at the beautiful Catalina Recreation Center’s (CRC) Billiard Room for an 8-Ball Team Challenge.  We were competing on four 8 foot Connelly pool tables for temporary ownership of a Bronze Traveling Plaque.  The 4 PPB teams consisted of Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Gary “One Rail” Barlow, Steve Searl, and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Phelps “Frenchfye” L’Hommediue and Fred “The Baker” Dianda, and Ron “Dblo7” Ridge and Randy “Thin Man
