Pool Players of The Brooke vs Sun City Oro Valley 8-Ball Singles Match

The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Billiards Club (PPB) had an informal singles competition against Sun City Oro Valley sponsored by Red Earth Tile & Stone on Tuesday July 16, 2024 at SCOV. The PPB would like to thank Sun City Oro Valley’s Billiard Club (SCOV), Sean Park and SCOV’s billiard team for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, and friendly competition. Another big THANK YOU goes out to Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, PPB’s Travel Team Captain for organizing this event. The PPB sent 4 players down to SCOV’s Catalina Vista Center for an 8-Ball Singles Challenge. We were competing on two 9 foot Diamond Pro-Am pool tables and two 9 foot Brunswick Gold Crowns. Our team consisted of 4 players and SCOV also had 4 players ready to compete. The PPB teams consisted of Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland, Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar , and Jack “Crash” Hoverter. Our SCOV opponents were as follows: Sean Park, Marvin Brisbin, Charlie, and Larry. The format was simple and interesting. Each of our players would play each of their players 3 games of 8-ball with each game won being 1 point for the winning team. There are a total of 48 points in the match. The first round went in favor of the PPB with a score of 8 to 4. The second round went to SCOV with a score of 7 to 5. After the second round the PPB was on top 13 to 11. The third round was a reversal of the second round with the PPB winning 7 games to SCOV’s 5 wins. Going into the fourth and final round the PPB was ahead by the score of 20 to 16. The fourth and final round found the PPB needing to win 5 games to win the match. The PPB did it! The fourth round score was PPB 8 and SCOV 4. The final score was 28 to 20 in PPB’s favor. This event was a continuation of a friendly but fierce rivalry with SCOV where the PPB has won 6 times, tied twice, and lost once out of 9 competitions since February 2017. SaddleBrooke is proud of their team and they thank SCOV for hosting the PPB and competing in this 8-Ball Singles match. Sponsor Gift: Red Earth Tile & Stone “Best Player” award goes to – Jack “Crash” Hoverter with 9 wins and 3 losses. Joe Giammarino jgpool@outlook.com
