Pool Players of The Brooke vs Voyager Billiard Club

The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Billiards Club (PPB) would like to thank Voyager’s Billiard Club (VBC), Ted Beery and Voyager’s billiard team for the friendly competition and cordial luncheon at Fat Willy’s Clubhouse after the 8-Ball team challenge. Another big THANK YOU goes to Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, PPB’s Travel Team Captain for organizing this event. On Friday January 10, 2025 the PPB’s Travel Team with the Traveling Bronze Plaque in hand ventured down to Voyager for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. We were competing on four nine foot Olhausen pool tables for temporary ownership of a Traveling Bronze Plaque. The PPB has had possession of this plaque since January 13, 2023 when the PPB defeated the VBC 27 to 21 at Voyager. Our team is made up of four, two player teams and Voyager also had four, two player teams. Our teams consisted of Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar and Lowell “8-Ball” Hegg, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Phelps “Montana” L'Hommedieu, Dave Parker and Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, Jack “Crash” Hoverter and Bob “O” Ogle. The format was simple. Each of our teams would play each of their teams 3 games of 8-ball with each game won being worth 1 point for the winning team. There were a total of 48 points in the match. The PPB won the first round 8 to 4. The second round went in favor of the VBC with an 8 to 4 score. After the second round the score was tied 12 to 12. The third round saw the PPB and VBC split the points at 6 to 6. Going into the fourth and final round the score was tied at 18 all. The final round found the PPB needing to win at least 6 games to tie at 24 all and the right to take the Bronze Plaque back to SaddleBrooke with them. The PPB did better than that! The fourth round score was the PPB 8 and Voyager 4. The final score was 26 to 22 in favor of the PPB with one Break-N-Run recorded by Tony “The Snake” Cardillo. The PPB will mount the Traveling Bronze Plaque back up on our wall in the CRC! This event was the continuation of a friendly rivalry with the Voyager’s Billiard Club. The PPB would like to thank SaddleBrooke Ranch Billiards Club (SBR), Jim Kauffman, and SBR’s billiards team for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, friendly competition. Another big THANK YOU goes out to Tony “The Snake” Cardillo PPB Travel Team Captain for organizing this event. On Saturday April 27, 2024 the SBR’s Travel Team ventured down to SaddleBrooke for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. We were competing on four 9-foot Diamond Pro-Am pool tables for temporary ownership of a Traveling Bronze Plaque that has been in the PPB’s possession since April 22, 2023. The PPB team was made up of 4, 2 player teams and SBR also had 4, 2 player teams. The PPB teams consisted of Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino and Jack “Crash” Hoverter, Phelps “Montana” L'Hommedieu and Fred “The Baker” Dianda, Tony “The Snake” Cardillo and Dave Parker, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Gary “One Rail” Barlow. Pool Players of The Brooke’s Travel Team – Perfection!

     The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Travel Team started by Dominic “The Doctor” Borland one of the PPB’s Founders, previous Vice President (twice), and the only Travel Team Director the PPB has had.   The PPB Travel Team began competitions on October 29, 2016 at Mission Royale in Casa Grande Arizona where the PPB defeated Mission Royale 30 to 18.   This was the start to a 6 year long run of competitions headed up by Dominic Borland.   In the past 6 years the PPB Travel Team competed 20 times against the following communities:   Green Valley Recreation, Sun City Vistoso, Quail Creek, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Sun Lakes in Maricopa County, Mission Royale, and Sunflower in Marana.      Our Travel Team is made up of any PPB member who wants to compete against other communities.
