Pool Players of The Brooke’s Second Ladder Competition

The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) held their second Ladder Competition with 20 PPB Members participating. Tony “The Snake” Cardillo implemented and administered the PPB Ladder competition. The main reason for this competition was to increase head to head competition within the PPB Billiard Club. Each challenge on the Ladder was a race to four 8-ball match. There were two divisions within the Ladder competition, Minnesota Fats division and the Willie Mosconi division. The Ladder started on 09/18/2024 and ran until 04/18/2025 with the divisional playoffs on Tuesday 04/22/2025. Minnesota Fats Division (MFD): The MFD participants were Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar, Jack “Crash” Hoverter, Dave Parker, Fred “The Baker” Dianda, Randy “Nice Try” Smith, Phelps “Montana” L’Hommedieu, Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Gary “One Rail” Barlow, and Dick “Pocket Blocker” Dunbar. When the MFD ladder competition ended, Tony Cardillo, Joe Vidmar, and Jack Hoverter the top three finishers in the MFD division competed in a playoff to determine the final positions and prizes for that division. The format of the Ladder playoffs was double elimination race to three 8-Ball. Minnesota Fats Division Final Results: First Place: Tony “The Snake” Cardillo 10 wins 6 losses Second Place: Jack “Crash” Hoverter 7 wins 7 losses Third Place: Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar 2 wins 6 losses Willie Mosconi Division (WMD): The WMD participants were Tom Walter, Dan “Rambo” Sollin, Russ “Longshot” Doring, Lowell “8-Ball” Hegg, Dick “The Visor” Titus, Rich “Hide the Salami” Adinolfi, Jim Samlaska, Steve Wiley, Riley Jackson, and Rodger Beard. When the WMD ladder competition ended, Tom Walter, Dan Sollin, and Russ Doering the top three finishers in the MFD division competed in a playoff to determine the final positions and prizes for that division. The format of the Ladder playoffs was double elimination. Willie Mosconi Division Final Results: First Place: Tom Walter 7 wins 5 losses Second Place: Russ “Longshot” Doering 5 wins 7 losses Third Place: Dan “Rambo” Sollin N/A The PPB thanks Tony Cardillo for his efforts and all the participants for joining in the fun of head to head competition. The Pool Players of The Brookes’ Billiard Club (PPB) hosted an 8-Ball Singles tournament on Saturday July 27, 2024 in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room. Thank you Stone Canyon Painting and Leah Kari Solutions for sponsoring this tournament. The format of this 8-Ball Singles Tournament was double elimination. Tournament Director was Joe Giammarino. The following field of 16 players showed up to compete in the game of 8-Ball singles. The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) held their first Ladder Competition with 26 PPB Members participating. Tony “The Snake” Cardillo implemented and administered the PPB Ladder competition. The main reason for this competition was to increase head to head competition within the PPB Billiard Club. A simple explanation of how this ladder works is that a participant may challenge the person one or two places above them to a four out of seven 8-Ball match. If they win they take that person’s spot in the ladder. The Ladder started on 03/01/2024 and ran until 07/01/2024 when the field was split into two divisions. The “Willie Mosconi” division and the “Minnesota Fats” division. After splitting the field the competition continued within those two divisions until 08/26/2024.
