The Pool Players of The Brookes’ Billiard Club (PPB) hosted an 8-Ball Singles tournament on Saturday March 29, 2025 in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room. Thank you PPB for sponsoring this tournament. The format of this 8-Ball Singles Tournament was double elimination. This is the fifth and last in a series of five 8-ball tournaments used to qualify for the finals of the PPB's first annual 8-Ball Club Champion of the Year award which will be held in April 2025. Tournament Director was Phelps L’Hommedieu. The following field of sixteen players showed up to compete in the game of 8-Ball singles. This is the fourth in a series of five 8-ball tournaments used to qualify for the finals of the PPB's first annual 8-Ball Club Champion of the Year award which will be held in April 2025. Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) vs Green Valley Recreation (GVR)

The PPB would like to thank Green Valley Recreation’s Billiard Club and Tom Keller, GVR’s Travel Team Coordinator for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, friendly competition and a nice luncheon after the match at the Coyote Grill. Another thank you goes out to Tony Cardillo PPB Travel Team Director for organizing this event. On Saturday February 8, 2025 the PPB’s Travel Team ventured down to GVR for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. The competition was being held in the GVR’s old golf cart garage converted into GVR’s new pool room which has 10 9 foot Diamond ProAm pool tables. The PPB and GVR have a long history going back to our first match on October 13, 2016 when the GVR taught us a big lesson! In fact the first 4 times we met GVR in competition they kept teaching us. The PPB did eventually learn their lesson as they have defeated GVR the last 4 times they’ve competed. The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Billiards Club (PPB) would like to thank Voyager’s Billiard Club (VBC), Ted Beery and Voyager’s billiard team for the friendly competition and cordial luncheon at Fat Willy’s Clubhouse after the 8-Ball team challenge. On Friday January 10, 2025 the PPB’s Travel Team with the Traveling Bronze Plaque in hand ventured down to Voyager for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. We were competing on four nine foot Olhausen pool tables for temporary ownership of a Traveling Bronze Plaque. The PPB has had possession of this plaque since January 13, 2023 when the PPB defeated the VBC 27 to 21 at Voyager. Our team is made up of four, two player teams and Voyager also had four, two player teams. The PPB would like to thank Rincon County West Billiards Club (RCW), Bob McKenna, and RCW’s billiards team for their camaraderie, and friendly competition. On Saturday December 14, 2024 the PPB’s Travel Team ventured over to RCW’s billiard club for an 8-Ball Team challenge. We were competing on four 9-foot Connelly pool tables for temporary ownership of a Traveling Bronze Plaque. The PPB team was made up of 4, 2 player teams and RCW also had 4, 2 player teams. The PPB teams consisted of Dave Parker and Russ “Longshot” Doering, Dick “Pocket Blocker” Dunbar and Jack “Crash” Hoverter, Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar and Lowell “8-Ball” Hegg, Tony “The Snake” Cardillo and Bob “O” Ogle.
