Jim “Aviator” Wydick and Bob Fagotti Under 25 and Undefeated!

   Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) want to thank our generous sponsor SmashBurger.  On June 15, 2019 the PPB hosted an Under 25 Partners 8-Ball Tournament. The PPB decided to eliminate their highly skilled players from this tournament and let other club members compete for the Under 25 Championship. Eligible participants must have a Skill Rating of 25 or less (40 is a perfect Skill Rating).  We also decided to have a referee on each of the 3 tables to help some of our club’s newer members get more familiar with the Billiard Congress of America’s 8-Ball Rules.  Tournament Directors were Dominic Borland and Ron Ridge. Tournament Referees were Dominic “The Doctor” Borland on Table #1, Phelps “Frenchfry” L’Hommediue on Table #2 and Gary “One Rail” Barlow on Table #3.  The top 9 Skill Rated players from the eligible Under 25 players drew a partner from the balance of the field.  After the draw the 9 Partners were Jay “The Shamrock Shooter” Clary and Dale Trudo, Jack Hepner and Julie “Cutter” Ferguson, Jerry Cogswell and Darlene “Breaker Breaker” Morris, Nancy "Whack-A-Mole" Barrett and Frank Strubel, Gary Stewart and Romayne Trudo, Jim “Aviator” Wydick and Bob Fagotti, Jim “The Artist” Morris and Warren Henderson, Bob “O” Ogle and Dick “The Stick” Schroeder, and Michael Ferguson and Dick Titus.
Results:
First -  Jim “Aviator” Wydick and Bob Fagotti 4 Wins 0 Losses 1 Bye
Second - Jay “The Shamrock Shooter” Clary and Dale Trudo 3 Wins 2 Losses 1 Bye
Third - Bob “O” Ogle and Dick “The Stick” Schroeder 3 Wins 2 Losses 1 Bye
Special Mention:  Darlene “Breaker Breaker” Morris was the highest finishing lady with a 4th Place showing, congratulations to Darlene and her partner Jerry Cogswell.
Recap:           
   Jim Wydick/Bob Fagotti’s road to victory started with a Bye in Round 1. Then in succession they defeated Michael Ferguson/Dick Titus, Jim Morris/Warren Henderson, Jay Clary/Dale Trudo, Jay Clary/Dale Trudo again for the title of Under 25 Champions!  Jim and Bob went through the whole tournament without losing a match.  Great job Jim “Aviator” Wydick and Bob Fagotti!

Pool Players of The Brooke’s Travel Team – Perfection!

     The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Travel Team started by Dominic “The Doctor” Borland one of the PPB’s Founders, previous Vice President (twice), and the only Travel Team Director the PPB has had.   The PPB Travel Team began competitions on October 29, 2016 at Mission Royale in Casa Grande Arizona where the PPB defeated Mission Royale 30 to 18.   This was the start to a 6 year long run of competitions headed up by Dominic Borland.   In the past 6 years the PPB Travel Team competed 20 times against the following communities:   Green Valley Recreation, Sun City Vistoso, Quail Creek, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Sun Lakes in Maricopa County, Mission Royale, and Sunflower in Marana.      Our Travel Team is made up of any PPB member who wants to compete against other communities. Pool Players of The Brooke vs Quail Creek Billiards Club 1/11/2020

   The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) would like to thank Quail Creek (QC) Billiards Club, Travel Team Director Dennis Desmond, President of the Quail Creek’s Billiards Club’s Chuck Asteleford and their members for the friendly competition and camaraderie.   Another big THANK YOU goes out to Dominic Borland and Gary Barlow, Captains of the Pool Players of the Brooke Travel Team for organizing this event and making sure it was a success, and they did a great job.   On Saturday January 11, 2020 at 9:00 AM the PPB hosted the Quail Creek Billiards Club at the beautiful Catalina Recreation Center’s (CRC) Billiard Room for an 8-Ball Team Challenge.  We were competing on four 8 foot Connelly pool tables for temporary ownership of a Bronze Traveling Plaque.  The 4 PPB teams consisted of Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Gary “One Rail” Barlow, Steve Searl, and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Phelps “Frenchfye” L’Hommediue and Fred “The Baker” Dianda, and Ron “Dblo7” Ridge and Randy “Thin Man
