PPB Member Appreciation Dinner June 5, 2019

   WOW!  Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB), you rock!  On Wednesday June 5, 2019 the PPB held their first Member Appreciation Dinner at the HOA1’s Activity Center.  Jack Hacking’s contribution of his rendition of Sloppy Joe’s was over the top delicious as were his brownies, thank you Jack for supporting our club.  Our wonderful side dishes were prepared by Chef Dave and his crew at HOA1, thank you Chef Dave.  Fred Dianda’s two strawberry sheet cakes were as beautiful as they were scrumptious, thank you Fred for being a big part of this club.  Event Sponsors, Golf Cars of Arizona, North Italian Restaurant, HOA1, HOA2, Tom Kaliski and Lindsay’s Quality Cues.  60 member/spouses attended this event showing their support. 

   The evening started by the PPB Board acknowledging some of their members with Gift Certificates for their contributions to the success of the PPB over the past year.  First up, Julie “Cutter” Ferguson for her taking control of the cleaning crew who cleans and maintains our pool tables and equipment in the CRC for our members and all the residents of SaddleBrooke.  Ron “Dblo7” Ridge who has initiated and administrated our Members’ Skill Ratings since our clubs’ inception, assists with tournaments and keeps us all in line with the current rules.  Gary “One Rail” Barlow for his efforts in keeping our house cues and billiard room in tip top condition and his assistance with executing our Travel Team’s schedule and events.  Thank you Julie, Ron and Gary you’re appreciated!

   Fred “The Baker” Dianda is our club’s Teddy Bear!  Fred was honored by our club for being one of our three founders with a beautiful award that depicts his efforts in support of this club.  You’re a friend to every member and in addition a great pool player, currently holding the highest Skill Rating in the club.  You helped this club when it needed it by being the third leg of the initial board back in 2016 when we were struggling to find that third person who believed in Dominic, myself and our ideas of what a Billiards Club should be.  The PPB is a better club because of your membership. 

  We held a raffle for some nice prizes and we thank all our generous Sponsors.  Winners were:

    We had a wonderful time, being around such nice and happy people. We are grateful for all who worked on this event to make it so successful. We are fortunate to belong to this club and look forward to meeting you at the club house.

Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) vs SaddleBrooke Ranch Billiards Club (SBR)

The PPB would like to thank SaddleBrooke Ranch Billiards Club (SBR), Jim Kauffman, and SBR’s billiards team for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, friendly competition. Another big THANK YOU goes out to Tony “The Snake” Cardillo PPB Travel Team Captain for organizing this event. On Saturday April 27, 2024 the SBR’s Travel Team ventured down to SaddleBrooke for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. We were competing on four 9-foot Diamond Pro-Am pool tables for temporary ownership of a Traveling Bronze Plaque that has been in the PPB’s possession since April 22, 2023. The PPB team was made up of 4, 2 player teams and SBR also had 4, 2 player teams. The PPB teams consisted of Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino and Jack “Crash” Hoverter, Phelps “Montana” L'Hommedieu and Fred “The Baker” Dianda, Tony “The Snake” Cardillo and Dave Parker, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Gary “One Rail” Barlow. Pool Players of The Brooke’s Travel Team – Perfection!

     The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Travel Team started by Dominic “The Doctor” Borland one of the PPB’s Founders, previous Vice President (twice), and the only Travel Team Director the PPB has had.   The PPB Travel Team began competitions on October 29, 2016 at Mission Royale in Casa Grande Arizona where the PPB defeated Mission Royale 30 to 18.   This was the start to a 6 year long run of competitions headed up by Dominic Borland.   In the past 6 years the PPB Travel Team competed 20 times against the following communities:   Green Valley Recreation, Sun City Vistoso, Quail Creek, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Sun Lakes in Maricopa County, Mission Royale, and Sunflower in Marana.      Our Travel Team is made up of any PPB member who wants to compete against other communities.
