Ron “dblo7” Ridge Walks Over the Competition!

   The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) want to thank our generous sponsors
Leah Kari - Secure Senior Health Solutions (520) 484-3807 and Beth Fedor - Realty Executives (520) 257-1167.  On Saturday August 28, 2021 the PPB Billiards Club hosted an 8-Ball Singles Tournament in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room.  The format was single game, double elimination.  
   Tournament Directors were Randy Smith, Dominic Boland and Joe Giammarino.  The following field of 16 players gathered to play competitive 8-Ball.  Dominic “The Doctor” Borland, Henry Krebs, Tony “The Snake” Cardillo, Jack “Crash” Hoverter, Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, George “The “G” Man” Bone, Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar, Phelps “Frnchfry” L'Hommedieu, Phil “The Cleaner” Jelleff, Dave Whitman, Ron “dblo7” Ridge, Randy “Thin Man” Smith, Dick “The Visor” Titus, Lisa Howard, Dick Dunbar, and Steve Horrigan.

Certificate of Appreciation:
    During the Players Meeting there was the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation from Senior Village Chair Dave Loendorf to the Pool Players of The Brooke’s Billiards Club for the Senior Village 8-Ball Tournament and fundraiser the PPB held that raised $6225.00 for Senior Village. 

Results:
1st – Ron “dblo7” Ridge – The best of the bunch! - 5 Wins 0 Losses
2nd - Dominic “The Doctor” Borland – Real close, but no cigar! - 6 Wins 2 Losses
3rd - Randy “Thin Man” Smith – Fine showing! - 3 Wins 2 Losses
4th – Tony “The Snake” Cardillo – In the Mix! - 3 Wins 2 Losses

Recap:           
   Ron Ridge’s path to victory over a field of 16 skilled 8-Ballers was as follows:  He started out by defeating Joe Vidmar and this was a pattern we would see from Ron during this tournament.  Ron then victimized in order Henry Krebs, Tony Cardillo, Randy Smith and lastly Dominic Borland for a sweep!   Congrats Ron a successful tournament win and enjoy that bottle of deliciousness!

The 8-Ball Singles tournament started at 1:00 PM and lasted 2 hours with 30 games of 8-Ball being played. We competed and met some new friends that shared our passion.  THAT is a good day!  RACK’EM UP!

Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) vs SaddleBrooke Ranch Billiards Club (SBR)

The PPB would like to thank SaddleBrooke Ranch Billiards Club (SBR), Jim Kauffman, and SBR’s billiards team for their pool table prowess, camaraderie, friendly competition. Another big THANK YOU goes out to Tony “The Snake” Cardillo PPB Travel Team Captain for organizing this event. On Saturday April 27, 2024 the SBR’s Travel Team ventured down to SaddleBrooke for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. We were competing on four 9-foot Diamond Pro-Am pool tables for temporary ownership of a Traveling Bronze Plaque that has been in the PPB’s possession since April 22, 2023. The PPB team was made up of 4, 2 player teams and SBR also had 4, 2 player teams. The PPB teams consisted of Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino and Jack “Crash” Hoverter, Phelps “Montana” L'Hommedieu and Fred “The Baker” Dianda, Tony “The Snake” Cardillo and Dave Parker, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Gary “One Rail” Barlow. Pool Players of The Brooke’s Travel Team – Perfection!

     The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Travel Team started by Dominic “The Doctor” Borland one of the PPB’s Founders, previous Vice President (twice), and the only Travel Team Director the PPB has had.   The PPB Travel Team began competitions on October 29, 2016 at Mission Royale in Casa Grande Arizona where the PPB defeated Mission Royale 30 to 18.   This was the start to a 6 year long run of competitions headed up by Dominic Borland.   In the past 6 years the PPB Travel Team competed 20 times against the following communities:   Green Valley Recreation, Sun City Vistoso, Quail Creek, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Sun Lakes in Maricopa County, Mission Royale, and Sunflower in Marana.      Our Travel Team is made up of any PPB member who wants to compete against other communities.
