Pool Players of The Brooke Member Appreciation Happy Hour

The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Board (PPB) orchestrated a Member Appreciation Happy Hour to honor their outstanding members and sponsors in the HOA!’s newly renovated RoadRunner Grill. The PPB hosted 57 members and two PPB Sponsors. PPB’s President Dick “Highlander” Dunbar started the program with a few upbeat words to the attending PPB members. Then Board Vice President Dominic “The Doctor” Borland recognized a couple sponsors. Joe Pate’s XPERT Auto has been sponsoring the PPB since its inception in February 2016. Shelly Smith representing XPERT Auto accepted a Certificate of Recognition from the PPB. Our next exceptional sponsor in attendance was Leah Kari of Leah Kari Solutions Inc. Leah has been with us since February 2018. Leah graciously accepted her framed certificate and indicated her support would continue and grow. Luis Lopez of Rancheros Market one of our newest sponsors was not present so Dominic will deliver his framed certificate to Luis. All three are tournament and CRC Pool Room sponsors. The PPB thanks our generous sponsors and believes in continuing our long running relationships. Next up, the grub! Our two servers Rich “Hide the Salami” Adinofi and Fred “The Baker” Dianda dressed in authentic Italian aprons and Chef Toques were ready and able to dish out some delicious pork sliders, chicken wings and caprese skewers to the hungry pool players. When the grub was devoured, Dick Dunbar was ready to award gift cards to acknowledge the selfless contributions of the following fifteen members. Pool Players of The Brooke’s Travel Team – Perfection!

     The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Travel Team started by Dominic “The Doctor” Borland one of the PPB’s Founders, previous Vice President (twice), and the only Travel Team Director the PPB has had.   The PPB Travel Team began competitions on October 29, 2016 at Mission Royale in Casa Grande Arizona where the PPB defeated Mission Royale 30 to 18.   This was the start to a 6 year long run of competitions headed up by Dominic Borland.   In the past 6 years the PPB Travel Team competed 20 times against the following communities:   Green Valley Recreation, Sun City Vistoso, Quail Creek, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Sun Lakes in Maricopa County, Mission Royale, and Sunflower in Marana.      Our Travel Team is made up of any PPB member who wants to compete against other communities.      The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) want to thank our generous sponsors Beth Fedor - Realty Executives Beth@makeyourmovematter.com Office: 257-1167   Cell: 271-3642 and Jim Fabio – Medicare Insurance Professional 520 818-6375    On Saturday April 24, 2021 the PPB Billiards Club hosted an 8-Ball Singles Tournament in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room.   The format was single game, double elimination.   Due to COVID-19, all participants were required to wear face masks, sanitize their hands before every game, only 8 players at a time were allowed in the billiard room with the other participants waiting in the card room or outside to keep Social Distancing.   Participants endured the face masks even though some had difficulty breathing easily and some having their eyeglasses fog up while playing.    Tournament Directors were Dominic Boland and Joe Giammarino.  The following field of 15 players gathered to play competitive 8-Ball.   Jerry Co
