Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) vs Mission Royale (MRBC)

The Pool Players of The Brooke’s Billiard Club (PPB) would like to thank Mission Royale’s Billiard Club (MRBC) and their President Brian Kjensmo for their pool table prowess, camaraderie and friendly competition. Another thank you goes out to Tony Cardillo PPB Travel Team Director for organizing this event. On Saturday March 09, 2024 the PPB Travel Team ventured up to the MRBC in Casa Grande for an 8-Ball Team Challenge. We were competing for temporary ownership of a traveling bronze plaque that has been in PPB’s possession since March 11, 2023. Our team was made up of 4, 2 player teams and MRBC also had 4, 2 player teams. Our teams consisted of Jack “Crash” Hoverter and Joe “Ball Breaker” Vidmar, Tony “The Snake” Cardillo and Gary “One Rail” Barlow, Phelps “Montana” L’Hommedieu and Dick “Highlander” Dunbar, Fred “The Baker” Dianda and Bob “O” Ogle. The format was simple and interesting. Each of our teams would play each of their teams 3 games of 8-ball with each game won being 1 point for the winning team. There were a total of 48 points in the match. MRBC won the first round 7 to 5. In the second round the MRBC increased their lead by winning the round by an 8 to 4 score. After the second round the MRBC was ahead at 15 to 9. The third round saw MRBC continue to increase the lead by winning the round by 9 to 3. Going into the final round the MRBC was leading with the score being 24 to 12. The fourth and final round would have to be a total sweep of twelve points by the PPB for them to retain possession of the Bronze Traveling Plaque. This did not happen as MRBC and the PPB split the round at 6 – 6. The final score was 30 to 18 in favor of MRBC. This event was a continuation of a friendly but competitive rivalry. Pool Players of The Brooke’s Travel Team – Perfection!

     The Pool Players of The Brooke (PPB) Travel Team started by Dominic “The Doctor” Borland one of the PPB’s Founders, previous Vice President (twice), and the only Travel Team Director the PPB has had.   The PPB Travel Team began competitions on October 29, 2016 at Mission Royale in Casa Grande Arizona where the PPB defeated Mission Royale 30 to 18.   This was the start to a 6 year long run of competitions headed up by Dominic Borland.   In the past 6 years the PPB Travel Team competed 20 times against the following communities:   Green Valley Recreation, Sun City Vistoso, Quail Creek, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Sun Lakes in Maricopa County, Mission Royale, and Sunflower in Marana.      Our Travel Team is made up of any PPB member who wants to compete against other communities.      The Pool Players of The Brooke Billiards Club (PPB) want to thank our generous sponsors Beth Fedor - Realty Executives Beth@makeyourmovematter.com Office: 257-1167   Cell: 271-3642 and Jim Fabio – Medicare Insurance Professional 520 818-6375    On Saturday April 24, 2021 the PPB Billiards Club hosted an 8-Ball Singles Tournament in HOA1’s Catalina Recreation Center (CRC) Billiards Room.   The format was single game, double elimination.   Due to COVID-19, all participants were required to wear face masks, sanitize their hands before every game, only 8 players at a time were allowed in the billiard room with the other participants waiting in the card room or outside to keep Social Distancing.   Participants endured the face masks even though some had difficulty breathing easily and some having their eyeglasses fog up while playing.    Tournament Directors were Dominic Boland and Joe Giammarino.  The following field of 15 players gathered to play competitive 8-Ball.   Jerry Co
